2 birthday grandchild isbella 2009 DISEASES - STROKE Denny Carr, MFA
"I am a stroke survivor and deal daily with a speech disorder called Aphasia. This disorder is a result of my stroke in 2005. Aphasia is an acquired communication disorder that impairs a person's ability to process language, but does not affect intelligence. Aphasia impairs the ability to speak and understand others, and most people with aphasia experience difficulty reading and writing. I am fortunate to be able to understand other's speech and read. I have what is called "expresive aphasia" sometimes referred to as "Tip of the Tongue Phenomenom." I know what I want to say, can often draw an image or create gestures and sound effects, but I cannot find the proper words. I am thankful God has given me the ability to express myself through my images and films."
